Too Much Power with the Digg iPhone Application

1 July 2008 One Comment

Now people will be able to Digg on the go.  This is cool, yeah.  Wooo…No big deal.  It’s an obvious app.  However, the potential for evil is almost too great.

Yes, too great.  Think of the use of this app in large groups!  Will there be a growing need for Digg Parties?  Where a group of boys and girls get together to send the stories of their choice skyrocketing in numbers?  I can just see it now, a group of close friends, fellow bloggers and family get together while they each submit then Digg a story.  It won’t look suspicious because they don’t have to be friends on Digg to do it, they can just talk about it over chips and the latest Totally Rad Show!  And many of you say you won’t do it.  Fine, I believe you, fellow Diggers, but what about the Big Corporate companies?  Fox News?  Or Republicans?

A political party could invite supporters through their mass email and mention they should download this app to support and help their party.  Then the loyal supporters would just need to fall in line like sheep and digg the already written article expressing how successful and great the rally was.  Hillary could have risen to the top of the greatest news portal!  McCain could have, well probably done nothing as he and everyone around him are really old.  But Obama could have been even more popular and successful than he already is!  Or what about Rush Limbaugh announcing the story the day that needs to be dugg (or buried) on his radio show.  Oh the horror!

KEVIN ROSE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!  And you may think this is crazy and you are probably mocking my foolishness, but you won’t be laughing when every article I write, from the time the app is released until the Universe’s Reboot, is Dugg by “random” fellow Diggers.  Muwhahahaha!  Yeah, the power is so convincing, I went to the dark-side.  Deal with it.
